Friends, it's not everyday that a 27 year old candidate of color decides to run for office, especially to represent the home district in which he grew up all his life. Ricki Ruiz was born in Portland in 1994 and has lived in the city of Gresham for the past 27 years. Ricki proudly attended the Reynolds School District and became the first to graduate from high school in his family in 2012. He then pursued higher education attending PCC and Warner Pacific University then graduating in 2016. Ricki earned his Bachelor's in Social Entrepreneurship becoming the first to graduate from college in his family.
In 2017, Ricki ran his first campaign running for a school board position in the Reynolds School District. What ended up in a 3-way race, Ricki won his election and became the youngest school board member ever elected in the Reynolds School District at the age of 22. He ran for re-election in 2019 and currently has been serving over 3 years in his role as a school board member.
In November of 2019, Ricki announced his candidacy to run for State Representative in House District 50 (Gresham / East Portland). Earning 66% of the vote in the primary, Ricki became the Democratic nominee in May of 2020. He then won the general election in November of 2020 and became the State Representative for House District 50. Help us today and donate to Ricki's campaign! Every contribution will go towards extensive voter outreach efforts, offering resources in multiple languages, and ensuring that House District 50 remains Democratic. "No Decision About Us - Without Us" Let's get Ricki Ruiz re-elected and continue serving us in Salem Oregon.
